Layout No.5 - Mountain View North American Layout from mid 60's - Present day.
Scale/Gauge:
'N' Gauge North American layout from mid 60's to present day.
Description
Mountain View is set in North America somewhere in the Rockies, with long trains running through high mountains and towering trees. One of the striking features of the layout is a helix, where you can watch the trains making the climb between the levels. In N gauge and at over 4 metres square it is a large layout; trains run approximately one scale mile before returning to their starting point. The trains represent a period from the mid 1960s to the present day. Most trains are double-headed, the passenger trains have over 14 coaches and some of the freight trains are over 30 boxcars long. The railway also features a radar station with its scanner revolving, keeping the skies above the mountains safe. The layout underwent a revamp in 2014, and is now L shaped, & incorporates a working tramway.
Locomotives are mainly Kato, as is the track. Coaches and wagons are mainly Kato and Atlas fitted with Microtrains couplings. The layout is DCC controlled by a 'wireless' Prodigy system. Some of the locomotives are fitted with sound. It is a layout where something is running all the time - Gremlins permitting! This layout was at Modelrail Scotland in Glasgow, Feb 2017 |

Control is DCC, with most Loco's Sound Fitted. Additional work incorporated a cross over section, plus some excellent buildinds, built from scratch by Brian Perrie. |

Description Connerby is a very detailed layout which would fit in an average room of 9 sq ft (3 sq mtr), It has two main lines in a folded circuit continuous run configuration. With a terminus station and through station as well as a locomotive depot and goods yard. Controlled by DCC with stud and probe point operation from a track diagram, four trains can be running at any one time. The layout is signalled by automatic colour light signals, which can be operated from the panel if required. Laid in code 100 Peco track with insulfrog points, the era modelled is late Steam with early (Green) Diesels, scenery includes lighting. |
